So you’ve got that Jeep TJ or LJ, and you’ve been spending a lot of time on social media watching your buddies crawling over rocks and rugged terrain. You want to do the same thing, have wanted to for some time, and now you’re ready to take your ride from awesome to rad. You’re going to have to address your fuel tank to stretch that Jeep out in order to rumble over the terrain without damaging your ride. We’ve got the solution. The new stretch underbody fuel cell for Jeep TJ and LJ, including a heavy duty skid plate.
Why The Motobilt Tank w/Skid Plate?
There is the obvious, which is gaining up to a 6” stretch on your Jeep. When you put those big tires on for the trail (and the look!), you’re likely going to need that stretch so things stay balanced. Our tank allows that stretch. And it does not require a body lift to install. And the Motobilt stretch tank with skid plate is a much more robust option than the stock Jeep tank, and it will take the beating of the trail again and again. And even if you're not looking to stretch your ride, this tank makes a great replacement for off-roading, again because it can take the abuse of the trail!
You also might want to keep your back seat and trunk area, rather than installing an aluminum fuel cell inside the Jeep, and you won’t need to change the location of where you fill the tank.
SOME SPECS & SPECIFICS
The top side of the tank features a roll over valve (included) & one 8-AN fitting for adding your vent tube (vent tube not included). We also include a ¾” thick machined aluminum mount location for the stock Jeep TJ fuel pump from a 2005-2006 model ONLY. This means if you have an older model TJ you will need to buy a fuel pump to work with this fuel cell. The sealing of the fuel pump is done via an integrated o-ring groove (o-ring not included). The o-ring this is sized for this fuel tight seal also fits a 2007-2018 Jeep JK/JKU fuel tank. The stock TJ fuel pump is securely sandwiched by an upper steel clamping ring & eight (8) ¼” hex bolts (fasteners included).
