When running 40 inch or larger tires on a Jeep JL, JLU, or JT, the limiting factor is not always the suspension. The factory inner fender and outer flare become the restriction. As suspension compresses, the tire contacts the underside of the fender before full up travel is achieved.
This becomes more noticeable on builds running long travel suspension systems where the suspension is capable of more movement than the body allows. The result is lost up travel, tire interference, and the need to limit suspension performance to avoid contact.
The Motobilt Hatchet high line front fender flares are designed to solve this by raising the upper section of the fender. By moving the fender line higher, additional clearance is created for larger tires and increased suspension compression without interference.
These fenders are built from steel plate and designed to match the JL, JLU, and JT body lines while providing additional clearance. The raised profile is based on a modified Rubicon flare height but extended further to support tire sizes up to 43 inches.
Clearance for factory hood latches is maintained, allowing the fenders to integrate cleanly with the existing hood design without additional modification.
