What is the one part that takes abuse off-road first? Differential covers are on the axle lower to the ground. Factory diff covers are usually thin and unable to withstand much abuse. Failures occur from punctures and “peeling up” the edge of the cover. Motobilt offers a Heavy Duty Diff Cover for the Ford M275 Super Duty 14 Bolt Rear axle on year models 2017-2021 found on some models of the F250 and single wheel F350. This cover is not to be mistaken with the GM Corporate 14 Bolt Rear Diff Cover. They are not interchangeable.
If you can weld and want to build your own diff cover, purchase this Heavy Duty Diff Cover for the Ford M275 Super Duty 14 Bolt Rear axle. Motobilt DIY Diff Covers are the same as our fully-welded diff covers, but sold as a kit including the pre-formed pieces and hardware you will need to complete the DIY project yourself.
Like all of the Motobilt diff covers we answered the problem of punctures and peeling up. The diff ring is laser cut from heavy duty 3/8” thick steel plate and the shell is laser cut and CNC formed from 1/4” thick steel plate. We fully weld the inside and out of the diff covers for the ultimate in strength. The fill plug are welded on the inside for the perfect seal. The fill plug is a standard pipe thread so it will be easy to replace if you should ever loose it. A 9/16” Allen wrench is required to install and remove the fill plug.
