When stretching a Jeep YJ 15 inches to match an LJ-length wheelbase, the rear of the body and frame are moved back, but the center of the body remains factory length. This creates a mismatch between the front and rear sections of the Jeep.
The Motobilt 15 inch stretch rocker guards solve this by extending the rocker area to match the new body and frame length.
These rockers fill the gap created by the stretch and tie the front of the tub into the newly extended rear section. Without extending the rocker area, the body lines do not match, and the Jeep is left with exposed sections and reduced protection.
This design maintains a straight rocker profile while adding strength and protection along the side of the body. The rockers are built from formed plate and designed to handle trail abuse while supporting the overall structure of a stretched build.
These are intended to be used as part of a complete 15 inch stretch system, aligning with stretch corner armor, floor panels, and rear back half kits.
YJ to LJ Conversion System (Required Components)
To properly convert a Jeep YJ to LJ-length wheelbase, the following components are required:
- Rear Back Half Kit (MB3067)
- Stretch Corner Armor (MB1176, MB1170, MB1170-A, MB1175)
- 15 Inch Stretch Rocker Guards (MB1171, MB1171-A, MB1177, MB1177-S)
- 15 Inch Stretch Floor Panel (MB1172)
- Inner Fenders (MB5529)
- Drop Down Tailgate (MB1168)
These components work together to extend the chassis, body, and wheel opening location to properly match a 15 inch wheelbase stretch.
