Roll Cage Builder Parts, Brackets & Tabs FAQ
Do builder bracket kits include tubing?
The JK, JKU and JT bracket kits supply their specified mounting parts and hardware, not a complete set of cage tubes. The TJ builder kit is a mounting-component package. Check the included-parts list and purchase suitable tubing separately.
Are these parts universal?
Some tabs and mounts are for custom fabrication, while other parts are vehicle-specific. Match the vehicle, mounting location, tubing size and component dimensions on each product page.
Are mounts sold individually or in pairs?
Quantities vary. Some vehicle mounts are sold as left-and-right pairs; items such as windshield tie-in plates and certain tabs are sold individually. Review each product listing.
Do these components require a professional welder?
Yes. A qualified professional welder/fabricator must plan the cage and mount design, fit the components and weld the assembly. Improper installation can result in serious injury or death. Buying individual components does not make a Motobilt cage approved for racing, motorsports or highway use.
Can Motobilt roll cages be used for racing, motorsports or highway driving?
No. Motobilt roll cages are exclusively for off-road recreational use. They are not designed, tested or rated for racing or motorsports and must not be used for competitive or high-speed activities. They are not certified or intended for on-road or highway use. Installation may render the vehicle non-compliant with federal, state or local requirements.
Does a roll cage guarantee occupant safety or preserve the factory safety systems?
No. A cage improves structural rigidity but does not guarantee occupant safety or survival in every rollover or impact. Cage installation may interfere with or disable airbags and crash sensors. The user assumes responsibility for these effects and the risks of using the vehicle.
What are the installation requirements and risks?
A qualified professional welder/fabricator is required. Improper installation can result in serious injury or death. Modification of factory panels may be necessary. Review the exact product instructions and its Important Safety & Liability Notice before installation.
Can I drill, notch or cut cage tubing for wiring or accessories?
No. Do not drill, notch or cut cage tubing to route wiring or mount accessories; this compromises its strength. If an opening is necessary, the product notice requires reinforcement with a welded-in bung or for the hole to be fully welded closed. Have a qualified professional welder/fabricator address this requirement; do not treat it as permission to leave an unreinforced opening.
What warranty and liability terms apply to Motobilt roll cages?
Motobilt roll cages are sold as-is, without express or implied warranties, including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Motobilt assumes no liability for injury, death or property damage. The end user assumes the risks. Read the full Important Safety & Liability Notice on the cage product page before purchase or use.
