Builders pushing a Jeep LJ into serious trail use quickly discover that factory rear tail lights and rear body corners are vulnerable once larger tires, suspension upgrades, and aggressive departure angles become part of the build. The longer LJ body works well for cargo space and trail stability, but the factory tail lights remain exposed to rocks, trees, and trail obstacles during rock crawling.
The Motobilt Corner Armor for the Jeep Wrangler LJ was designed around a fully recessed tail light system that helps protect the lighting deep inside the armor structure rather than leaving it exposed on the outside of the body. Internal mounting brackets position the lights safely inside the corner armor while an outer trim ring creates a clean finished appearance similar to the Motobilt Bobbed Bed and El Jefe 15-inch stretch corner systems.
These corners are specifically designed around the Baja Designs S2 auxiliary light platform rather than the larger Squadron lights used on larger stretch corner systems. The smaller S2 package allows the recessed tail light system to fit properly within the dimensions of the factory-length LJ tub without major body modifications. The rear passenger side panel eliminates factory tailgate hinge cutouts for builders using a drop down tailgate conversion. Once the factory swing gate hardware is removed, the solid corner design creates a much cleaner rear body profile that better matches heavily modified trail builds.
Constructed from 3/16-inch A36 steel, these corners are built for real off-road abuse and reinforce vulnerable rear body sections while maintaining the factory wheel well opening.
