Once you start using a Jeep JT Gladiator off road, the factory underbody becomes a problem quickly. The frame hangs low, the crossmember creates a catch point, and the drivetrain components are exposed. When you start dragging the belly over rocks, bolt heads, skid edges, and drop-down sections become hang-up points that stop forward progress.
The factory design was not built for repeated contact with obstacles. It leaves gaps in protection and creates multiple edges that catch instead of slide.
The Motobilt Jeep JT Gladiator Skid Plate System replaces the factory layout with a fully integrated underside designed to move across obstacles instead of getting stuck on them. This is a complete 4 piece skid system that ties together using recessed hardware and keyed overlaps, creating a smooth, continuous surface from front to rear.
The system includes an integrated crossmember that adds strength while eliminating the factory drop point. Each skid section is designed to work together, forming a flat belly that allows the Jeep to slide over rocks rather than hang up on exposed components or bolt heads.
Access and serviceability were also considered during design. The system includes a large oil pan access panel and allows individual skid sections to be removed without disassembling the entire system.
This system was developed by builders who understand how the JT platform behaves on the trail. It is built for real rock crawling use where clearance, strength, and smooth surfaces matter more than factory compromises.
