LJTJYJ
Mid frame section designed to connect Motobilt front and back half kits on Jeep YJ, TJ, and LJ builds. Built from 3/16 inch steel to create a continuous chassis structure for full frame rebuild projects.

When building a Jeep YJ, TJ, or LJ for serious off-road use, the factory frame quickly becomes a limiting factor. Rust, damage, and thin factory material create problems when tying together front half and back half chassis systems. Once you move into link suspension, coilovers, and axle swaps, the center section of the frame needs to match the strength and layout of the rest of the build.

The Motobilt Mid Frame Section was designed to solve that problem. This section forms the center foundation of a full Motobilt frame system, connecting the front half and back half into a complete chassis. This is the center section of a full frame system and cannot be used alone It is intended for Jeep YJ, TJ, and LJ builds where the factory frame is no longer suitable for the level of modification being performed.

Built from 3/16 inch steel, this section provides a strong and consistent structure through the middle of the vehicle. It allows builders to tie suspension, drivetrain, and chassis components together without relying on factory material that may be compromised or misaligned. This is especially important when building linked suspension systems where frame accuracy and strength directly affect geometry and performance.

This is not a factory repair section. It is a builder-focused chassis component designed to be used with Motobilt front half and back half systems to create a complete frame. It also gives builders the flexibility to stretch wheelbase or convert a TJ or YJ into an LJ length configuration often referred to as a TJ-6.

Like all Motobilt components, this system was designed by builders who understand Jeep frame limitations, fabrication requirements, and real off-road use. It provides a consistent, heavy-duty foundation for building a complete chassis that works as a system instead of a patched-together frame.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a mid frame section do on a Jeep build?

It connects the front half and back half of the frame to create a complete chassis. It provides a strong, straight center section that supports suspension, drivetrain, and overall frame integrity.

Is this a replacement for a rusted factory frame section?

No. This is not designed as a repair panel. It is intended for full chassis builds where the factory frame is being replaced or heavily modified.

What parts does this work with?

This section is designed to work with Motobilt front half and back half frame systems to create a complete frame.

Can I build a full frame using this section?

Yes. When combined with a front half and back half, this becomes part of a complete frame system.

Can this be used to stretch a TJ or YJ to LJ length?

Yes. Builders commonly use this section along with a back half to create a longer wheelbase configuration.

Does this include body mounts or skid plate mounts?

No. These must be added separately based on your build.

Is this a bolt-on part?

No. This requires cutting, fitting, and welding. It is intended for experienced builders.
