When building a Jeep YJ, TJ, or LJ for serious off-road use, the factory frame quickly becomes a limiting factor. Rust, damage, and thin factory material create problems when tying together front half and back half chassis systems. Once you move into link suspension, coilovers, and axle swaps, the center section of the frame needs to match the strength and layout of the rest of the build.
The Motobilt Mid Frame Section was designed to solve that problem. This section forms the center foundation of a full Motobilt frame system, connecting the front half and back half into a complete chassis. This is the center section of a full frame system and cannot be used alone It is intended for Jeep YJ, TJ, and LJ builds where the factory frame is no longer suitable for the level of modification being performed.
Built from 3/16 inch steel, this section provides a strong and consistent structure through the middle of the vehicle. It allows builders to tie suspension, drivetrain, and chassis components together without relying on factory material that may be compromised or misaligned. This is especially important when building linked suspension systems where frame accuracy and strength directly affect geometry and performance.
This is not a factory repair section. It is a builder-focused chassis component designed to be used with Motobilt front half and back half systems to create a complete frame. It also gives builders the flexibility to stretch wheelbase or convert a TJ or YJ into an LJ length configuration often referred to as a TJ-6.
Like all Motobilt components, this system was designed by builders who understand Jeep frame limitations, fabrication requirements, and real off-road use. It provides a consistent, heavy-duty foundation for building a complete chassis that works as a system instead of a patched-together frame.
