What makes this tail light system different from factory TJ tail lights?
The lights are recessed inside the corner armor structure rather than mounted exposed on the outside of the body. This helps protect the lights from trail damage during rock crawling and off-road use.
Can I buy just the tail light assembly with the Baja Designs lights?
No. The recessed tail light assembly is not sold separately. The complete corner armor system is required because the internal mounting structure and recessed light brackets are integrated directly into the corner armor design.
Are the lights included with the corner armor?
No. Tail lights are sold separately. Motobilt recommends part number MB6504.
What is the purpose of the outer trim ring?
The trim ring finishes the recessed light opening and gives the corners a clean appearance similar to the Motobilt Bobbed Bed and El Jefe 15-inch stretch corner systems.
Why does this corner armor not have factory tailgate hinge cutouts?
This version is designed for builders using a drop down tailgate setup instead of the factory swing gate. Eliminating the hinge cutouts creates a cleaner appearance on the rear corner panel.
Do I need to drill into the Jeep tub to install these?
Yes. Installation requires drilling mounting holes into the side of the tub.
