JKU
Rear coilover mount system for 2008-2018 Jeep JKU. Supports 14-inch and 16-inch coilovers or ORI struts with a heavy-duty crossmember and shock towers.

As rear suspension travel increases, the factory Jeep JKU shock mounts and crossmember quickly become the limiting factor. The factory layout was never designed around long-travel coilovers or ORI struts, which often forces builders to compromise shock placement, travel, or packaging.

The Motobilt Rear Coilover Mount System replaces the factory rear shock mounting structure with a system designed around proper shock positioning and suspension travel. At the center of the system is a heavy-duty 1/4-inch steel crossmember that replaces the factory unit and ties directly into fabricated shock towers. This creates a stronger mounting structure while providing the space needed for longer shocks and improved suspension packaging.

Designed for 14-inch and 16-inch coilovers or ORI struts mounted on top of the axle, the system allows the suspension to cycle through its travel without the constraints of the factory rear shock arrangement. The result is improved shock placement, more usable suspension travel, and a cleaner rear chassis layout.

The design works with both the factory fuel tank and the Motobilt rear-mounted fuel cell, making it adaptable to a variety of Jeep JKU suspension builds. Integrated pass-throughs help simplify wiring and fuel routing, keeping the rear chassis organized and serviceable.

Like many Motobilt suspension components, this system was developed by builders who understand the packaging challenges that come with long-travel suspension systems. Whether you're building a trail Jeep, rock crawler, or rear suspension conversion, this system provides the structure required to support a properly designed rear suspension.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why replace the factory rear shock mounts and crossmember?

The factory rear suspension layout limits shock length and mounting position. Replacing the factory structure allows proper placement of longer coilovers or ORI struts while improving suspension packaging and travel.

What size coilovers will this system support?

The system is designed around 14-inch and 16-inch coilovers mounted on top of the axle.

Will this work with ORI struts?

Yes. The shock towers are compatible with ORI struts when mounted on top of the axle.

Do I need a Motobilt fuel cell to use this system?

No. The system is designed to work with either the factory fuel tank or the Motobilt rear-mounted fuel cell.

What rear suspension configurations is this designed for?

This system is designed to work with standard Jeep JK and JKU 3 or 4-link rear suspension setups and is commonly used on long-travel suspension builds.

Is welding required?

Yes. This is a fabrication component that requires cutting and welding during installation.
