What makes Motobilt Half Doors different from other Jeep JK half doors?
Many aftermarket half doors are simply an outer skin attached to a frame. Motobilt Half Doors feature a double-wall aluminum construction with a finished interior panel, integrated storage pocket, interior and exterior handles, and automotive-grade latching mechanisms. The result is a door that feels more complete and refined while maintaining the strength needed for trail use.
Do these half doors fit both Jeep JK and JKU models?
Yes. These half doors are designed to fit 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU models.
Are the doors made from steel or aluminum?
The doors are constructed from 11-gauge aluminum. This reduces weight compared to factory doors while maintaining durability for both street and trail use.
Do the doors include interior and exterior handles?
Yes. Each door includes both interior and exterior door handles. The latches utilize adjustable automotive-grade cables for smooth operation.
Do the doors include hinges and hardware?
Yes. The doors include hinges, door handles, complete door assemblies, and the necessary installation hardware.
Do these doors come painted?
No. The doors ship as raw aluminum and require bodywork and paint preparation before finishing. Motobilt recommends professional paint and body shop preparation for the best results.
Can these doors be powder coated?
No. Powder coating is not recommended. Because the doors require bodywork and preparation before finishing, paint is the preferred finishing method.
Can I run upper windows with these half doors?
Yes. Motobilt offers a Front Soft Upper Window Adapter Kit that allows these half doors to work with Bestop Element Upper Half Doors. This gives builders the flexibility to enjoy open-air driving while still having the option to install removable upper windows and weather protection when needed.
Do the upper window adapters come with the half doors?
No. The Front Soft Upper Window Adapter Kit is sold separately.

No. Universal Mirror Brackets are available separately and can be added when ordering.
Are limit straps included?
No. Limit straps are sold separately under part number MB5555.
Why do builders choose half doors for off-road use?
Half doors improve visibility around obstacles and make it easier to see tire placement while navigating technical terrain. Many builders prefer half doors because they provide a balance between open-air driving and the security of having doors installed.
Are these doors built in the USA?
Yes. Motobilt Half Doors are manufactured in the USA and are metal finished, inspected, and assembled with attention to detail before shipping.
