Assembly Instructions

Once you add a winch to a Jeep JL or JT, the factory bumper and many aftermarket options start to create new problems. High-mounted winches sit out in front of the grille, affecting airflow and putting more leverage on the frame. They also reduce approach angle and leave the winch more exposed to trail damage.

The Motobilt Crusher recessed winch bumper with bull bar is designed to keep the winch low and tight between the frame rails. This improves weight distribution and protects the winch while maintaining a better approach angle. The integrated skid plate helps protect the front crossmember and underside when the front end comes into contact with obstacles.

The bumper is built from 3/16 inch thick steel plate that is laser cut and CNC formed. Recovery points are constructed from 3/4 inch thick laser cut D-ring mounts that pass through the bumper and are welded on both sides. This ties the recovery points directly into the structure so they can handle real recovery loads.

The addition of the bull bar adds protection for the winch and front grille without creating unnecessary bulk. It is built from 1.75 inch DOM tubing with .120 wall thickness, the same type of material used in roll cages and chassis fabrication. The shorter bull bar design keeps the profile tight while still providing protection where it matters.

At 46 inches wide, the bumper keeps the front end narrow for better tire clearance and improved approach angle, especially when running up to 40 inch tires. Like other Motobilt Crusher series components, this bumper reflects real fabrication experience and focuses on function, clearance, and strength.
