The Peck Bros Bring Their Mini-Wrecker to Sand Hollow

Did the Peck Brothers Get it Done? A Mini Wrecker Adventure at Trail Hero

After seven grueling months of hard work, the Peck Brothers were finally ready to unleash their ambitious creation—the mini wrecker. Built to conquer rugged terrain and handle recoveries with ease, this compact but capable rig had a lot riding on its first test. Would the wrecker hold up to the demands of rock crawling, or would it leave the brothers scrambling for repairs?

The setting? Sand Hollow State Park, home to Trail Hero, the largest off-road event in the USA. With countless off-road enthusiasts in attendance, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

A Rocky Start

Even before the trail adventure began, the mini wrecker had them sweating. The night before, the transfer case was still in pieces, forcing Brady to work into the early hours to get it operational. As the team set out, doubts lingered—what if the mini wrecker wasn’t ready? What if it couldn’t meet the challenges they’d built it for?

But this wasn’t just any day on the trail; this was Double Sammy, one of the notorious routes in Sand Hollow. A true proving ground.

Running into the Motobilt Crew at Trail Hero

While navigating Double Sammy, the brothers ran into some familiar faces—the Motobilt Crew. Trail Hero attracts the best of the best, and among them were off-road pros Dan, Hunter, Bender, Bobby and crew from Motobilt. What better place to show off the mini wrecker, decked out with Motobilt parts, than on one of the most challenging trails during the biggest off-road event in the country?

The Motobilt team was eager to get a closer look at the brothers’ creation. Dan, Bender, and Hudson immediately hopped into the cab to test out the PRP bench seat. Despite the truck’s compact size, the interior left them impressed. They exchanged jokes about the fit, with Bender quipping, "It’s roomier than you’d think!"

Dan Takes the Wheel

After an invitation by the Peck Brothers and a guilt trip, Dan decided to take the mini wrecker for a spin. As he navigated over the boulders of Double Sammy, it was clear the vehicle had potential. The massive 43-inch Super Swampers gripped the rocks like a mountain goat, making tough climbs look easy.

The Mini Wrecker's First Recovery

Though the wrecker excelled on the rocks, it wasn’t without its flaws. Engine overheating became a problem, especially in the sandy stretches of the trail. The brothers suspected that the radiator’s placement and underpowered fan were to blame. Despite this, the vehicle showed incredible potential.

Then came the real test: the mini wrecker’s first recovery mission. When they got a call to rescue a stranded Jeep stuck deep in a ravine, the brothers jumped into action. The mini wrecker rolled in and successfully pulled the damaged rig to safety, proving it wasn’t just for show—it could deliver when it mattered most.

A Promising Start

By the end of the day, the Peck Brothers knew they had something special. Sure, the wrecker wasn’t perfect—it still needed work on its cooling system. But the combination of rugged Motobilt parts and their ingenuity had resulted in a one-of-a-kind recovery vehicle.

At Trail Hero, surrounded by some of the best off-roaders in the country, the brothers had put their creation to the ultimate test. And while it wasn’t flawless, the mini wrecker survived—and thrived—through its first adventure.

Will the Peck Brothers fine-tune their build or keep pushing it as-is? One thing’s certain: they built it, and it works—and the mini wrecker’s adventures are just beginning.
