JKJKU
Front half kit for the Jeep JK and JKU that moves the steering box forward and upward, allows up to a 3 inch front stretch, and supports up to 3.0 16 inch coilovers while creating the room and structure serious suspension requires.

There comes a point in a Jeep JK build where the factory front frame becomes the bottleneck. Once builders start pushing toward lower center of gravity setups, longer travel suspension, larger tires, and heavier axle swaps, the stock frame rails and steering box location start fighting every part of the build. Shock towers compete for engine bay space, steering components limit compression, and front stretch options become a series of compromises.

The Motobilt MB3103 Tomahawk Front Half Kit was built to remove those limits and give the front of the JK the structure it actually needs. This system replaces the factory front frame section with a fabricated front half designed for serious suspension packaging, front stretch capability, and improved chassis strength. It supports up to a 3.0 inch body, 16 inch travel coilover and works with JK 4 link suspension systems, giving builders the room needed for long travel suspension without forcing the chassis to work around factory constraints.

A key part of this system is the steering box relocation built into the front half design. The kit moves the steering box forward 2 1/8 inches and raises it 5/8 inch. That solves a common issue on low center of gravity builds running 2005 and newer Super Duty axles, where the axle housing can contact the steering box at full compression. Instead of limiting up travel or raising ride height, the steering box is moved into a position that better supports suspension travel and axle clearance. The system also allows up to a 3 inch front stretch while retaining a steering box setup. RockJock front sway bar compatibility is built into the layout, and provisions are included for relocating ABS and electronics so the final front end stays clean, serviceable, and functional.

Notes
  • Full welding is required to install the front half chassis components to the factory frame.
  • Relocation of ABS and engine bay electronics is required.
  • Custom steering and track bar solutions may be needed depending on axle width, steering linkage, and front stretch setup
  • Full suspension mockup at ride height and full compression is strongly recommended before final welding.
  • Final shock clearance depends on axle selection, wheel backspacing, wheel size, and overall suspension geometry.
  • Builders using 2005 and newer Super Duty axles benefit from the steering box upward relocation for improved compression clearance.
  • Test fit all components before final paint or powder coat.
  • Professional installation is recommended unless the builder has fabrication and chassis setup experience.
Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I need a front half kit on a Jeep JK?
A front half kit replaces the factory front frame rails to create room for coilovers, larger axles, front stretch setups, and improved suspension geometry. It removes factory packaging limits that become a problem on serious builds.

How much front stretch does the MB3103 allow?
This kit allows up to 3 inches of front stretch while retaining a steering box configuration. Final stretch amount depends on axle choice, wheelbase goals, and steering setup.

Why does this kit move the steering box?
The steering box is moved forward and up to improve axle clearance at full compression. This is especially important on low center of gravity builds running 2005 and newer Super Duty axles, which often contact the factory steering box location.

What size coilovers will this kit support?
The MB3103 is designed to support up to a 3.0 inch body, 16 inch travel coilover. Proper mockup is still required to confirm final fitment with your axle, wheels, and suspension layout.

Is this a bolt-on kit?
No. This is a structural chassis system that requires welding, suspension planning, and fabrication. It is intended for experienced builders or professional fabricators.
