More about Ford 8.8 Axle
The Ford 8.8 Axle for many is the go to axle housing when swapping to a stronger axle assembly in the Jeep YJ and Jeep TJ. The Ford 8.8 is a stronger option than the Dana 35 axle in the YJ and TJ. There are arguments out there that the Ford 8.8 is a stronger option than the Dana 44. The Ford 8.8 offers donor axles with the same width as the Jeep YJ and TJ stock axles, factory disk brakes, larger diameter axle tubes and a larger ring gear.
